As an American, this is a huge relief, because I trust Japan (or South Korea) to replace full-dependence on Taiwanese semiconductors way more than I trust the woke, DEI, systematically state-sponsored r-word-sxprxmxcist, rxcxxlized anarcho-tyranny, clown-world hellscape of countries like the US or even Germany to do so, to the extent they are trying.

Yeah, Japan has always had huge problems with food and energy security, but if they could build up full verticals in key sectors like semiconductors that everyone else relies on, that's one area they already excel at (manufacturing hi-tech hardware) that could make them much more independent, and at the same time indirectly more food- and energy-secure by merit of how much any other country with any resource (food, energy, etc.) needs those key products like semiconductors, etc. That's probably the smartest thing they could possibly invest in that I can think of.

This is pretty interesting, but the Italians were far less effective in their war effort than the Germans or arguably even the Japanese, who took on much bigger military and economic powers than themselves simultaneously. The economic systems of Axis Germany and Japan would be really interesting follow-ups to this, as a sort of series or trilogy. I've heard the US war economy was also incredibly interventionist during WW2 (people always throw out that "90% income tax" meme; doesn't sound realistic or plausible to me), so that would be an interesting comparison as well.

Well, Germany was quite prepared for war (although it could be more prepared, as seen in this video). So much so that they won the initial war against France and would definitely have won against the UK. Germany wasn't, though, prepared to extend the fight to the USSR and the USA. Had the war been confined to western Europe, Germany would probably have won.

I dont think Southern Europe is poor especially Italy and Spain. They have a lot of big companies maybe not as many as the north but they have less countries. They are quiet more advanced in other areas. Also south of France also has most of the economic vibrant cities in France, Paris is the only city representing the north of France. Northern Italy, Madrid, Baqur country, Navarre and Catalonia are wealther than many places in the north of Europe.

It's ruling politicians are puppets of USA. Without China huge economic growth in past 30 years, Japan would have declined even faster. If Japan escalate trade war with China, it will implode fast.
